Ghana Football Association [GFA] boss, Kurt Okraku says qualifying for the World Cup is the dream and biggest achievement of every country.
The West African country having missed the 2018 Mundial in Russia has made a return to the global showpiece.
Ghana qualified at the expense of Nigeria after a two-legged tie. The Black Stars drew goalless with the Super Eagles at the Baba Yara Stadium and played 1-1 at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in the return leg to qualify with the away goal rule.
Kurt Okraku, who came under criticism after Ghana’s poor performance at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations [AFCON] in Cameroon but ensured the Black Stars made a return to the World Cup says it is the biggest achievement for every country to play at the world stage.
“This (World Cup) is the biggest achievement any member association can talk about. You can qualify for the U-15, U-17, U-23, and the women but if you are absent at the Mundial believe me, you are nothing,” he said at the 2022 Congress at Prampram.
“We shouldn’t take it for granted that we’ve qualified because this marks the beginning of a new era for Ghana football.
“When you qualify for the World Cup, you are treated differently, for my colleagues who have been to Qatar, you’ve had a feel of it and you belong to the big boys,” he added.
Ghana, who are housed in Group H will open their campaign against Portugal on November 24 at Stadium 974 in Doha.
Four days later, the Black Stars return to action with a clash with South Korea at the Education City Stadium in Al Rayyan.
Ghana will wrap up its group stage adventure with their much-anticipated encounter with Uruguay at Al Janoub Stadium in Al Wakrah.
