An inhumane, reckless illegal weekend demolition exercise undertaken by the Tema Development Company (TDC) has destroyed Peadico International School that is preparing final-year Junior High School students for their BECE examination.

This incident has left the fate of the students hanging.

The owner of the school located at Tema Community 24, Ms. Peace Shalon Negble, has condemned the TDC for this illegal demolition.

Narrating the background of how she acquired the land, the school owner, who gave her name as Ms. Negble, said she acquired these 18 plots of land since 2004.

She stated that she bought the lands legally from Tema West traditional authorities, purposely to establish Creche to Junior High School.

According to her, the chiefs accepted her and prepared all necessary documents for her afterwards since 2004.

“From 2017, was when TDC started asking me to relocate the school because the land belongs to them,” she noted.

Ms. Peace Shalon Negble said she redirected them to the chiefs because they sold the land to her.

“So they went and later I was there when the chief told me to go to TDC for a regulatory document because he had finished talking to them and also confirmed he sold it because the land doesn’t belong to them and they have no land there because it’s not government land.”

She added, “so I later went to see them at the TDC office and they told me to pay GHC400,000 (4 Billion) old currency, before they will release the document else they will come and move me out of the place and they only gave me just one month to finish paying.”

She further alleged that initially, they took, 14 plots of land from her and sold them to some individuals to build their houses.

“They then later promised to return the 14 plots back to me when I’m done paying that GHC400,000. Finally, a month later, I went there to beg for an extension of the deadline for payment, and they asked me to go, but they will come and destroy everything and indeed they have done exactly as they threatened whiles final year students are about to write their exams. If this is not corruption, reckless arm-twisting, and abuse of power then what is this?? She lamented.

Ms. Peace Shalon Negble appealed to the MP of the area and the President of the Republic Nana Akufo-Addo to come to her aid.
