Alhaji Sinare
Alhaji Sinare

In the last few days, the NDC party was beleaguered with a mixed story of propriety and justice.

We all recall the case involving the former Ayawaso North Constituency Chairman, Tahiru Ahmed popularly called Baba Woarabeba who went to report H.E. Alhaji Sinare of giving him guns to cause trouble in the 2020 elections.

He was subsequently suspended and as a result prevented from contesting in subsequent elections. However just yesterday, the General Secretary was said to have unilaterally withdrawn the suspension to enable Mr. Tahiru contest in the currently ongoing Constituency elections to the detriment of the party’s fortunes.

It is on record that, Hon. Asiedu Nketia in a meeting which included Alhaji Saeed Sinare said, the Report as submitted by the Regional Disciplinary Committee suggesting the withdrawal of the suspension was not properly drawn and therefore he(Asiedu Nketia) would constitute another Disciplinary Committee which would include Representatives from the National Secretariat.

It was therefore seen as a stab in the back of Alhaji Sinare when, without consultation Hon. Asiedu Nketia went ahead to withdraw the suspension on Mr. Tahiru Ahmed.

In trying to call for leadership intervention, it is important to call a spade a spade and prevail on Mr. Asiedu Nketia to do the right thing. According to information I have, General Mosquito, as he is affectionately called did not send the report to FEC for deliberation and possible input of other party members. This is unacceptable by all democratic measure if indeed such mistake was committed.

Today, the decision has caused many to raise eyebrows and ask questions such as;

Would Asiedu Nketia lift the suspension if any of his relatives was the one so blackmailed?

Would Asiedu Nketia forgive someone who attempted to kill him by pulling the trigger and got saved by lack of bullets in the gun?

What was the offence of Koku Anyidoho for which he was dismissed compared to the dangerous blackmail against Sinare?

If Koku Anyidoho and Allotey Jacobs have been dismissed from the party, how can’t we wait till the Constituency elections are over before reinstating the said culprit? I think the party must sit up and do justice to all manner of persons, notwithstanding their status, tribe or religion.

In this vein, leadership must update itself with these facts before engaging Asiedu Nketia for a resolution of this matter.

Alhaji Sinare is a senior member of the party, but for God’s intervention would have been serving a 25yrs jail term as a result of that deadly blackmail. Such belligerent insubordination must not be encouraged in the NDC party. Thank you
