Ghanaian Disc Jockey, Alexander Yeboah, popularly known as DJ Lexis has controversially asserted that the Ghana Police Service and Ghana DJs have something they share in common.
The DJ who works with Starr FM and Kasapa FM added that while police officers in Ghana are always at the receiving end of taking gifts and money from the public, DJs also get rewarded in the same format in the line of duty.
In an interview with Sika on TV Africa’s Video Ryde, he admitted that his colleague DJs take ‘payola’ but they are better off than the police.
‘Payola’ is a Ghanaian term that describes the act of influencing DJs with money to heavily promote a particular song.
DJ Lexis told the host of the show in Twi, “ever since I joined this profession, I have never requested payola but when you appreciate my work and give a token, I will take it”.
The host then asked who is the worse culprit of bribery between DJs and police officers. The disc jockey answered that it is the latter because they engage in the act every day.
DJ Lexis is currently embarking on a media tour to engage with fans and also introduce his craft to more people.
