An injunction application filed by one of the National Democratic Congress(NDC) Flagbearer aspirants, Dr. Kwabena Duffuor is expected to be heard today (Friday) at the High Court in Accra.
The Duffuor team wants the primaries suspended over what they describe as discrepancies in the voters register and absence of photo album. They want the elections stalled until concerns are addressed.
The Electoral Commission has stated that it will not supervise the elections until the legal hurdle is cleared.
Speaking to Starr News, a Political Marketer with the University of Cape Coast, Dr. Bernard Tutu Boateng said the NDC should seek an out-of-court settlement and address concerns raised by the aggrieved party.
“The NDC should probably seek and out of settlement and to address the concerns that have been raised by Dr. Duffuor. I think that going into this elections, it will be very important for the NDC party to show to Ghanaians that it is actually ready for the 2024 elections and this should be a test case for the party.
“There shouldn’t be any situation where any of the candidates going into this election will feel that there has been some basis for bias and the fact that the process has been used against him unduly. The process should be fair, transparent, and credible so that whoever will win, knows that he won based on credibility and whoever fails will also know that the process was fair and transparent.”
