The Member of Parliament for the Assin North Constituency, who is also contesting to be elected as the Presidential Candidate for the ruling New Patriotic Party, Hon. Kennedy Agyapong, and his campaign team, organised a health walk at the stronghold of the NPP, Kumasi, on Saturday, 30th September 2023.

The health walk was intended to galvanise support and demonstrate the popularity of Ken Agyapong in the party’s “World Bank” to the world.

However, things didn’t go as planned and intended. The attendance was extremely poor and discouraging, leaving the organisers and the members of his campaign team highly disappointed.

Following the unpopular decision of the former Minister of Trade and Industry, Hon. Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, to resign from the NPP, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP, Mr. Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, directed all Alan Kyerematen-branded items are removed from the offices of the party across the region.

This move by Chairman Wontumi might have gone a long way to discourage people in the region from participating in such activities including this health walk.

The NPP is going to the polls on November 4 to elect its presidential candidate for the 2024 General Elections. The Vice President, HE Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, is so far the clear favourite to win the bid to lead the party.
