President of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) Mr. Ben Nunoo Mensah has assured Ghanaians that athletes representing the county at this year’s Olympic Games Paris 2024 are eager and focused to perform their best.

Speaking to Mr. Kwabena Yeboah on Sports Highlights on Monday evening, he debunked reports in the media that athletes camping in Strasbourg are demanding money from authorities.

“This is not a time for thinking about money, everything will be sorted by the government,” he assured.

He noted that he is in touch with the team and the CDM on a frequent basis so he is abreast with the first class camping conditions.

Ghana will feature in Swimming and Track and Field at the Paris 2024 Games 

According to him the opening ceremony on July 26 will not be like the usual match past but on a river and security will be very tight.

He announced that there will be a Ghana platform or space at the Paris Africa Village, where Ghana artists like Sarkodie. King Promise and Kofi Kinata will perform.

He noted that about 16 million people from all over the world will be in Paris.

He tipped NigerianTobi Amusan to shine as well as Uganda long distance runners and the Jamaicans to excite.

206 countries will compete among 10,714 athletes in 329 events over 32 sports disciplines.

On a legacy project, he hinted that the Olympic Museum in Accra is being furnished to have some memorable items on display to attract sports and history students.
