Accra, Ghana — Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Vice President of the Republic of Ghana and the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has expressed his excitement after securing the coveted number 1 position on the ballot paper for the upcoming 2024 Presidential Election.
The announcement was made by the Electoral Commission during the highly anticipated ballot slotting event held earlier today, attended by representatives of the various political parties contesting the election.
Dr. Bawumia and his team were visibly elated after the NPP’s number was revealed. Speaking shortly after the event, the Vice President emphasized the symbolic and strategic significance of being placed at the top of the ballot.
“The number 1 position on the ballot paper resonates with the direction of our campaign—putting the people of Ghana first in everything we do.
It is also a reflection of the NPP’s commitment to leading this country with integrity, development, and progress,” Dr. Bawumia said.
Symbolic Victory and Motivation for the NPP
For the NPP, being first on the ballot serves as an energizing boost as they intensify their campaign efforts leading up to the December election.
Party officials believe that the top spot is a sign of the party’s readiness to continue leading Ghana towards greater economic and social development.
General Secretary of the NPP, Justin Frimpong Kodua, echoed these sentiments, stating, “This is more than just a number. It is a clear indication that the NPP remains the foremost choice for the people of Ghana.”
With Dr. Bawumia at the helm, we are confident that we will secure a decisive victory in the 2024 elections.”
Dr. Bawumia’s selection as the number 1 spot comes as the NPP embarks on an ambitious nationwide campaign, focusing on critical issues such as economic transformation, job creation, infrastructure development, and digital innovation.
With the ballot number now secured, the NPP plans to amplify its message of hope, continuity, and progress to every corner of the country.
“Being number 1 is symbolic of our vision for Ghana—an economy that works for everyone, a society that leaves no one behind, and a nation that stands tall on the global stage. We are ready to continue building on the solid foundations we’ve laid over the years,” Dr. Bawumia added.
The 2024 Presidential Election is shaping up to be a fiercely contested race, with several major political parties vying for the presidency. However, Dr. Bawumia and the NPP are confident that their position at the top of the ballot will serve as an advantage as voters head to the polls on December [Election Day], 2024.
