The new Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Ga North Municipal Assembly, Hon Akwetey Agbo on Wednesday kicked off a series of familiarization tour in his municipality to make way for a sanitized community as he moves to prioritize sanitation in the area.
According to him, sanitation issue is a top priority since President Mahama has declared that sanitation would highly form part of the performance indicators of DCEs and MMDCEs.
He was accompanied by the Ga North Municipal NADMO officials, his municipal engineers and top officials at the Assembly.
Hon. Akwetey Agbo also announced massive Decongestion of Pokuase.
He used the opportunity to visit some flood-prone areas as well as houses and residents that have suffered damages as a result of recent rains and as the rainy season continues.
The MCE also used the visit to interact with the residents to know the challenges in the Municipality.
Some of the places he visited included Capital Hill Sowutuom, Omanjor Dwenewoho, Amamorle, New Ayawaso, Nii Armah communities.
During the visit, the MCE met with local residents and stakeholders to discuss the importance of restoring their bridge to ensure the safety of the commuters.
This, he said is expected to commence soon assuring that all the necessary measures would be taken to prevent recurring flooding crisis.
Residents also lamented about the damages the flood has caused and are therefore appealing to the authorities to come to their aid.
They expressed their appreciation to the MCE for the prompt response.
