When the curtain fell on the 2025 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ), the excitement in the hall was electric. Once again, Mfantsipim School — Botwe — had emerged champions. And once again, our beloved St. Augustine’s College — Augusco — stood gallantly in second place.
For two consecutive years, our boys have battled their way into the finals, only to be edged out by Botwe. That might sting, yes — but beneath the disappointment lies a deeper truth: consistency, resilience, and courage under fire are themselves hallmarks of greatness.
Let us, therefore, not hang our heads. Rather, let us hold them high, proud of the journey we have taken and of the young minds who have represented us with dignity and brilliance. Our boys gave it their all — with focus, faith, and fortitude. They reminded us of who we are: a community built on excellence and perseverance.
Our motto, Omnia Vincit Labor — Perseverance Conquers All — is not a slogan to be recited only in moments of triumph. It is a creed that sustains us through every test, trial, and near miss. The NSMQ, after all, is more than just a contest of wits; it is a test of spirit. And in that, Augusco has never fallen short.
We must now take this moment not as a setback but as a springboard. Let us rally as one family — students, teachers, administrators, and old boys (APSUnians) — to strengthen the next generation of contenders. Let’s invest early in training, mentorship, and resources so that when 2026 comes, we shall meet the challenge fully prepared and fully inspired.
To our teachers and quiz coaches, we say Ayekoo! You continue to mould minds and shape character with tireless devotion. To the students, take heart. You have done us proud. You have shown Ghana what Augustinians/APSUnians are made of — discipline, grace, and intellect in motion. The flame you have lit will continue to burn brightly.
And to our friends from Mfantsipim, congratulations are in order. Your victory is well deserved. We salute your effort and commitment. Healthy rivalry has always pushed both our schools to greater heights — and in the end, that is what truly advances education and excellence.
Still, let no one mistake our tone of goodwill for surrender. Augusco will rise again. We will learn, adapt, and return — fortified by the lessons of these two seasons and guided by faith in our enduring motto.
So, to every APSUnian out there — from the class of 1980 to the current boys in green — this is our call to action. Let’s channel our pride into purpose. Let’s support the school not just in words but in deeds. Let’s be the wind beneath the wings of the next champions.
For we know this to be true:
Omnia Vincit Labor — Perseverance Conquers All.
And Augusco never gives up. Never.
