A Constituency Executive Member of the ruling National Democratic Congress in the Ho-Central Constituency, Oscar Bedzra, has described as ‘growing tension’ within the base of the National Democratic Congress.
This comes in less than two years into President Mahama’s administration after 2024 general elections that witnessed massive victory for the NDC.
Oscar Bedzra made this call at a meeting organised by a section of NDC branch executives on Saturday, in the Ho-Central Constituency.
He [Oscar Bedzra] charged president Mahama’s appointees to extend ‘the reset agenda’ to the base of the party, stating that the grassroots which includes branch executives and all other registered members of the NDC, are the ‘messengers’ as 2028 elections draw closer.
“….and I Indeed, I wish to use this medium to call on appointees and party leadership at the national level to extend ‘the reset agenda’ to the grassroots who spent sleepless nights to preach the NDC to Ghanaians prior to the 2024 general elections”.
Addressing questions from some party executives about what he thinks about the sentiments expressed by party faithfuls, Oscar Bedzra stated that “….. and the sentiments expressed by the party’s grassroots signals disappointment from party appointees and some party executives regarding opportunities for the grassroots. Most concerns are genuine concerns”.
In a related development, Oscar Bedzra urged government appointees not to consider the views expressed by members as disrespectful, but rather use them as tools to reposition the base of the party.
“Anytime I meet most of our appointees, I clearly put it to them not to consider the reactions of party faithfuls as disrespectful but rather an avenue to right the wrongs so we can together, reset the party where opportunities are made available for members and citizens”.
