The Door

I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. John 10:9

In John 10, Jesus used the imagery of the relationship between sheep and their shepherd to describe His mission of bringing people to God.

In John 10:9, Jesus describes Himself as “the door” for the sheep.

Here, Jesus means that He is the entrance and access point to salvation and divine sustenance. We have access to salvation through Jesus Christ (John 14:6).

Faith in Jesus enables us to enter into salvation. Through Him, we are saved from death and brought into a loving relationship with God.

Once we enter through the door, which is Jesus, we find pasture, and we can “go in and out.” Jesus is describing the freedom and security that come when we place our faith in Him.

A sheep outside the protection of the shepherd is vulnerable because predators are always lurking, waiting to attack and devour it. But those who enter through Jesus, the Door, are safe and secure under His care. The enemy may seek to attack, but he cannot ultimately overcome those who belong to Jesus. In Jesus, we enjoy both freedom and security.

Jesus is the Door through whom we have access to salvation, freedom, and the abundant provision of God.
Shalom.

Prayer: Pray for the faith to receive Jesus into your life and to enjoy the freedom and security that He gives.
