Lands Commission

Activities of political appointees at lands commission today have set tongues wagging in political and social circles as the poor people whose lands government has compulsorily acquired cry foul due to indiscriminate sharing of such lands among politicians with long, sticky, itchy hands.

The regent and elders of Kweiman in the La Nkwatanang municipality have accused Executive Secretary of Lands Commission, Alhaji Sulley and others, of attaching lackadaisical attitude towards the Presidential directives on the 40% of the dairy farm land released to the various communities that own the land.

According to them, after series of petitions to the government to revert their ancestral land to them after the project for which the land was compulsorily acquired no longer exist, the president  had eventually acted on their request by asking Ministry of lands and natural resources and Lands commission to ensure a smooth release, which was eventually announced publicly by the Vice President, His Excellency Dr. Bawumia, on behalf of the President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency Nana Akuffo Addo, and the former sector minister, Asoma Cheremeh.

They have however alleged that the Executive Secretary of Lands Commission, Alhaji Sulley and others at the lands commission are overtly attaching lackadaisical attitude to the release process in a bid to cover what has already taken place on their land to avoid being exposed.

“The fact of the matter is that, we were told to liaise with the various institutions involve in the process for all the relevant documents covering the 40% that has been released by the state; which we did. Surprisingly, we have received some of the released documents, including the release letter but could not lay hand on the layout or plan which will indicate portions that were released to us” they explained.

They have come to the realization that there were lots of dark transactions on the land that, those involved never wanted to come to the fore, hence Executive Secretary of Lands Commission, Alhaji Sulley seems to be doing everything possible to frustrate the allodia owners of the land released, which was jointly announced by the Vice President and the then sector minister, Mr. Asoma Cheremeh on the 27th of November, 2020 at Danfa.

“Releasing a whitepaper without plan covering the ratio is absurd and this absurdity must be stopped by the President, Nana Akuffo Addo who saw the need to do what others could not do, only to be betrayed by the Executive Secretary of Lands Commission, Alhaji Sulley, and other appointees.

“We suspect foul play ostensibly fashioned out by Executive Secretary of Lands Commission, Alhaji Sulley and others to delay the release process in a bid to cover some apparent ill transactions on our land,” they claim.

They said those who have allegedly stolen their ancestral land are using money to frustrate their efforts to recover it.

They are calling on the president; Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo to intervene and help them recover their land which they claim has been grabbed by tycoons.
