The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Germany Branch has accused Zanetor Agyemang-Rawlings of being unpatriotic over her claims that recent robbery attacks in the country has something to do with the fight against illegal mining (galamsey).
The Member of Parliament (MP) of Korle-Klottey last week said in an interview on Kingdom FM that the reasons behind the recent bullion van robbery is as a result of the halt of galamsey amid lack of jobs in the country.
According to her, the length and breadth of mining communities in the country are large groups of able-bodied young men who understand the language of lawlessness and flout regulations with impunity in their search for livelihoods.
“Most of the guys who were involved in illegal mining are jobless thus is the reason behind rampant bullion van robbery. These issues are a national security most of the guys are jobless hence the Police needs to up their game in terms of security,’’ Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings said.
In a reply to the allegation, the NPP Germany Chapter has today released a statement to blast the MP.
The group insists that there is no fact to back her assertion just like how she made false claims during the food distribution in the country in the midst of last year’s lockdown.
“This is one of her many unguided statements. She alleged that food that was cooked as relief package for citizens during lockdown was shared on partisan basis without a shred of evidence to back her claims.
“By her recent statements she has shown how unpatriotic she is. The fight against illegal mining is a good move that has received significant support from all ends of the country,” a release from NPP Germany signed by Branch Communications Director Nana Boateng has said.

OPPOSITION MPS SHOULD LEARN TO SPEAK WITH FACTS
Zanetor Rawlings have recently been found in some unpatriotic words aligning the fight against galamsey to the cause of recent robbery attacks in Accra without any facts to guide her comments.
This is one of her many unguided statements. She alleged that food that was cooked as relief package for citizens during lockdown was shared on partisan basis without a shred of evidence to back her claims.
By her recent statements she has shown how unpatriotic she is. The fight against illegal mining is a good move that has received significant support from all ends of the country. If the member of parliament does not want to support the idea of protecting our waters she should stay behind the decision making circles and allow ready men and women to fight this war. To try and distract others by linking attacks which has been isolated and has been the concern of police to bring perpetrators to books as a thing caused by galamseyers is highly ridiculous.
Crimes in the capital are becoming worrying and we all need to garner behind the police to deal with the situation. Any attempt to make political survival out of what seems to be a pressing and delicate issue as this will expose how irresponsible the behaviour of some of these persons who have been voted to represent us.
The President and his government is fighting a good fight. One that will benefit generations to come. All we need to do as Ghanaians is to support him in prayers and in our actions.
Long live Ghana, Nana Addo and the NPP.
…Signed…
Nana Boateng,
NPP Germany Branch Communications Director.
