Ahead of the 2023 Ghana Journalists Awards (GJA) celebration on Sunday 29th October 2023 at Accra International Conference Center, GCB Bank the lead sponsor has presented a cheque of GH¢300,000.00 to the management of GJA in order to support and promote the activities of the awards scheme.

At the presentation of the cheque, the GJA President Mr. Albert Kwabena Dwumfour lauded the Managing Director and the management of GCB bank for the gesture, adding that the presentation will go a long way to help the association.

“Let me commend the MD and management of GCB for coming on board to support this year’s Awards. I must emphasize that GCB Bank has been a long-term partner that supported our Awards in the past but for a while, should I say they went into hibernation as far as the Awards are concerned.

We are happy that they are back to support a worthy cause. I must state that the GJA is eternally grateful for this gesture”. The presentation this afternoon marks the beginning of a new era for our partnership.

We believe that this support would go a long way to further strengthen the relationship of the two institutions for mutual benefit.”

He emphasized that the stakeholders in the media industry play a vital role in socioeconomic development, hence the media freedom to democratic development and promotion of national security can not be overemphasized.

According to him, the media acts as an intermediary between the government and the governed and, therefore the media must be granted the necessary safeguards and autonomy to function in a manner that promotes national progress and unity.

Speaking on behalf of the management of GCB Bank, Jessie Jecintho, the head of the legal service department, commended the management of GJA for the tremendous work done as the fourth ream of government.

She noted that GCB Bank is committed to working with the media fraternity to promote peace, unity, and socio-economic development of the country.
