On Saturday, June 29, 2024, the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) and Dambai College of Education jointly organized a peace walk and fun games event in Dambai, Krachi East, to promote peace and harmony among Ghanaians ahead of the 2024 general elections.
The event saw participation from various institutions, including the National Democratic Congress (NDC), New Patriotic Party (NPP), CLOGSAG, Electricity Company of Ghana, Lands Commission, National Health Insurance Authority, Ghana Immigration Service, Ghana National Fire Service, and the Ghana Police Service.
The Oti Regional Director of the NCCE, Mr. Robert Boame, addressing the participants, said, “The peace walk and fun games event is a testament to our commitment to promoting peace and unity in our beloved country, Ghana. Let us continue to work together to build a harmonious society.”
The dignitaries in attendance include Hon. Wisdom Gidisu, Member of Parliament for Krachi East, Hon. Michael Yaw Djato, NPP Parliamentary Candidate, and Hon. Nelson Kofi Djabab, NDC Parliamentary Candidate.
The dignitaries emphasised the need to resist violence and promote peace for development and the importance of unity and harmony in Ghana’s democratic growth.
They also made a commitment to peace, promising not to recruit or encourage violence among their supporters. Additionally, they called on citizens to remain peaceful and united during and after the elections.
The event featured a peace walk through the streets of Dambai, followed by fun games and activities that promoted unity and teamwork, as well as addresses from dignitaries emphasizing peace and harmony.
This event sets a positive tone for the upcoming elections, demonstrating the power of unity and civic engagement in Ghana.
