Harlem, New York – Sept. 17, 2024—Artists from across Africa and its global Diaspora will gather in New York from September 19-21, 2024, for the “Let Art Speak the Future” program, an event hosted in Harlem ahead of the upcoming United Nations Summit of the Future.

This unique pre-summit event aims to unite creative voices, including writers, spoken word artists, musicians, dancers, filmmakers, and visual artists, to collaboratively envision the future of our world.

The gathering is organized to foster conversations about the future through the lens of art, creativity, and cultural expression.

Participants will share their insights, creating a collective vision that complements the discussions among global leaders taking place at the official UN Summit of the Future.

This major event is part of a broader movement to ensure that civil society voices are part of the decision-making process that will shape the world’s future.

Coumba Toure, Chair of TrustAfrica, emphasized the importance of this initiative:

“This September, world leaders are meeting in New York at the Summit of the Future to adopt the Pact of the Future for the world.

We are working with the African Union’s Economic, Social and Cultural Council (AU Ecosocc), the Priority Africa Network, and other Pan-African organizations to convene civil society leaders from the continent and the Diaspora to be part of the conversation. We wanted to do it ahead of the UN Summit.”

By bringing together artists and leaders from various fields, “Let Art Speak the Future” aims to expand the dialogue around the future to include more diverse perspectives and ensure that African and Diasporic communities have a platform in shaping global discussions.
