A number of groups in the Northern Region have hailed and welcomed the intention of Alhaji Ibrahim Iddrisu, popularly called Chairman Sunday to contest the position of NPP Chairman for the Northern Region.

They touted his human relations, his support to them, and his political experience and networks as some of the few issues they love about him.

Alhaji Sunday, who served as Regional 2nd Vice Chairman and currently 1st Regional Vice Chairman of the NPP in the Northern Region, once contested the NPP Parliamentary primary in the Tamale Central constituency but was not successful.

The groups named NPP Ambassadors for Change, Dagbong Progessive Youth for the NPP, and Titahama Women Group praised Alhaji Chairman for his financial and logistical support to them anytime they were in need and thinks that he has demonstrated enough patience, leadership and availability for the job and they were declaring full support for his journey to lead the NPP in the Northern Region to election 2028.

The group, in various statements to the media, stated that every long journey starts with the first step and therefore describes the intention of Alhaji Sunday as just timely.

The outgoing Northern Regional Chairman, Chairman Adam Samba, would have served as Regional chairman for the NPP for two terms and is expected to throw his support behind his First Vice Chairman as they had agreed on this according to Chairman Sunday.

There are indications that other persons would join the race in the Northern Region.
