PRESS RELEASE

02—02—2026

Congratulations To All Five Candidates And The Elephant Party; Now The Real Battle For 2028 Starts Now—NPP GERMANY

To NPP GERMANY branch, the successful conduct of the New Patriotic Party’s presidential primaries on Saturday 31st January 2026 marks a defining moment in Ghana’s democratic journey and deserves commendation from all well-meaning citizens and party people.

In an era where internal party contests across Africa are often marred by violence, intimidation, and acrimony, the NPP has demonstrated that competitive politics can be conducted with civility, order, and respect for democratic principles.

The election of former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the party’s flagbearer for the 2028 general elections reflects the clear will of the party’s delegates, expressed peacefully and transparently.

More than 200,000 delegates across 333 polling centres in all 16 regions exercised their franchise without incident, sending a strong signal that political maturity is steadily taking root within Ghana’s political parties.

This achievement did not occur by chance. It is the result of deliberate planning, adherence to party rules, and the commitment of party leaders to uphold discipline throughout the process.

All five presidential aspirants deserve praise for conducting issue-based campaigns and for urging their supporters to remain calm and law-abiding before, during, and after voting.

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s decisive victory, with 56.48 per cent of the total valid votes, gives him a strong mandate to lead the party into the next electoral cycle.

Equally deserving of commendation are the other aspirants—Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, and Kwabena Agyei Agyepong—who accepted the outcome in good faith and placed party unity above personal ambition.

The delegates, too, must be applauded for conducting themselves peacefully and responsibly, reinforcing the notion that internal democracy thrives when participants respect the rules of engagement.

This peaceful exercise stands as a powerful rebuke to political violence and reinforces Ghana’s reputation as a beacon of democracy on the African continent.

As an opposition party, the NPP has now successfully completed a critical internal process and must turn its full attention to the task ahead—reorganising, rebuilding, and reconnecting with the Ghanaian electorate.

Winning the 2028 general elections will require more than a flagbearer; it will demand hard work, strategic discipline, and collective sacrifice from every level of the party.

Unity must now become the party’s strongest currency. Divisions, recriminations, and internal sabotage can only weaken the NPP’s ability to present itself as a credible alternative to the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The 2028 contest will be fiercely competitive, and only a united, formidable, and resilient NPP can wrestle power from an entrenched NDC.

The party’s leadership must therefore act swiftly to integrate all camps, heal wounds, and harness the strengths of every aspirant and supporter.

Dr. Bawumia’s victory should be viewed not as the triumph of one faction, but as an opportunity to forge a broader national coalition anchored in shared values and collective purpose.

The peaceful primaries have already set a positive tone; sustaining that spirit of cohesion will be critical in the years ahead.

Ghana’s democracy benefits when political parties model tolerance, respect, and institutional maturity, and the NPP has raised the bar with this exercise.

As the party marches toward 2028, it must remain focused, disciplined, and resolute in offering Ghanaians a compelling vision for national renewal.

Ultimately, the successful, violence-free primaries should serve as both a moment of celebration and a call to action—unity, hard work, and resilience will be the decisive tools for reclaiming power and shaping Ghana’s future.

The NPP’s strength has never been in any single individual, but in its collective resolve to put party and country above all else.

God Bless Our Homeland Ghana!!!

Long Live Ghana, long live the Elephant Party!!!!

Kukruduuuu Eeeessshiii!!!
