LET US JOIN HANDS TO CLEAN OUR ENVIRONMENT AND SAVE LIVES
The Leadership of the People’s National Convention (PNC) has taken particular notice of the directive issued by His Excellency the President of the Republic of Ghana declaring two days of a nationwide general clean-up exercise following the devastating floods of 29 June 2026.
The tragic loss of lives, destruction of property, and displacement of many families serve as a painful reminder that environmental sanitation is a shared responsibility.
While extreme weather contributed to the disaster, indiscriminate disposal of waste and the choking of gutters and drainage systems significantly worsened the flooding in many communities. One can say that the flooding was a natural disaster but caused by US.
The PNC believes that this national clean-up exercise presents an important opportunity for all Ghanaians to demonstrate collective responsibility towards protecting our environment and preserving lives.
Accordingly, we urge all members of the People’s National Convention, our supporters, and the general public to actively participate in the two-day nationwide exercise. Particular attention should be given to clearing choked gutters, desilting drains, removing refuse from public spaces, and ensuring that our communities are kept clean and safe.
The PNC further expresses the hope that this initiative will not be a one-off event but will evolve into a regular national exercise that fosters a culture of environmental cleanliness, civic responsibility, and disaster prevention throughout the country.
A cleaner environment is not only essential for public health but is also critical to safeguarding lives, protecting property, and promoting sustainable national development.
Together, let us build a cleaner, healthier, and safer Ghana.
