The President of the Gabonese Republic, H.E. Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, arrived in Accra on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, for a historic two-day official visit aimed at strengthening diplomatic and economic relations between Ghana and Gabon.
President Oligui Nguema was warmly received at the Accra International Airport by the President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, in a display of the strong and longstanding friendship between the two West and Central African nations.
The welcoming delegation also included the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Members of Parliament, other Ministers of State, senior government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, traditional leaders and senior military officers.
The official visit marks another significant milestone in the enduring relationship between Ghana and Gabon, with both countries reaffirming their commitment to expanding cooperation across key sectors of mutual interest.
During the visit, Presidents Mahama and Oligui Nguema are expected to engage in high-level bilateral talks focusing on enhancing political dialogue, increasing trade and investment, strengthening diplomatic relations, and promoting collaboration in areas such as security, energy, agriculture and infrastructure development.
The two leaders are also expected to discuss regional and continental issues, including efforts to advance African integration, promote peace and security, and accelerate sustainable economic development under the framework of the African Union and the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
Officials say the visit presents an opportunity to identify new areas of partnership that will deliver tangible economic and social benefits to the peoples of both countries while reinforcing their shared vision for a prosperous and stable Africa.
President Oligui Nguema’s visit is expected to culminate in the signing of bilateral agreements and renewed commitments to closer cooperation, further strengthening the historic ties between Ghana and Gabon and reinforcing both nations’ resolve to promote peace, economic growth and regional prosperity across the African continent.
