Offload the Burdens
Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken. Psalms 55:22
In Psalm 55, David found himself overwhelmed by trouble. He was gripped by fear and anxiety, surrounded by wicked people, and deeply wounded by betrayal.
Yet, in the midst of his personal turmoil, David reminds us of God’s ability to carry the burdens that weigh us down.
He instructs us to cast our cares upon the Lord. To cast means to throw or roll our burdens onto Him. It is a command, not merely a suggestion. We are not meant to carry the heavy loads of worry, fear, sickness, disappointment, or anxiety on our own. Instead, we are to place them in God’s capable hands.
When we cast our cares upon the Lord, He does two things.
First, He sustains us. God does not always remove every trial, but He always provides the strength we need to endure. Even when He does not immediately deliver us from our troubles, He faithfully carries us through them. The Lord will sustain you.
Second, He will never allow the righteous to be shaken. God will not permit your troubles to overwhelm you or destroy your faith. He sets boundaries that your trials cannot cross. Your situation may be difficult, but it will never exceed His grace or His ability to keep you.
God sustains you and keeps you from collapsing under the weight of your burdens. His grace is sufficient to strengthen you through life’s greatest challenges.
Today, cast all your cares upon the Lord. He will sustain you and will not allow you to collapse under the weight of life’s burdens. Shalom.
Prayer: Pray and cast all your cares upon the Lord to be sustained and strengthened.
