Adehyeman International School has celebrated its 4th Graduation and Exhibition Day, reaffirming its commitment to academic excellence, innovation and character development while commemorating a decade of educational achievements.
The colourful ceremony, held at the school’s premises at Blue Rose Estate, Kasoa Budumburam, was on the theme: “Ten Years of Reflection in Sustaining Academic Excellence.” It brought together parents, guardians, Board members, education stakeholders, teachers, pupils and invited guests.
The event also featured an exhibition showcasing pupils’ creativity, innovation and practical skills, reflecting the school’s commitment to holistic education.
This year’s ceremony marked the graduation of students who successfully completed their academic journey from Basic One to Primary Six, signifying their transition into a new academic year and the next stage of their educational development.
According to records, the first batch of graduates are now pursuing programmes such as Electrical Engineering, Chemistry and Pharmacy at some of Ghana’s leading universities.
Adehyeman students have also gained admission to some of the country’s top senior high schools, including PRESEC-Legon, Adisadel College, Holy Child School, Archbishop Porter’s Girls’ Secondary School, Ghana National College, Mfantsipim School, and Mfantsiman Girls’ Senior High School, among many other prestigious schools across Ghana.
The school has a student population of over 200, with a teaching staff of about 16, comprising both permanent and contractual teachers. The school’s enrolment has declined over the years due to the rapid emergence of many new schools, largely as a result of weak regulatory oversight by the Ghana Education Service (GES).
Additionally, the special dispensation granted to basic schools regarding the grading system and placement into senior high schools has contributed to the reduction in student enrolment.
Addressing the school gathering as the Guest Speaker, Mrs. Gifty Ntiri, a Medical Doctor, challenged graduates of Adehyeman International School to make academic excellence a lifelong habit rather than a destination, urging them to remain curious, resilient and purpose-driven as they transition into the next phase of their educational journey.
Speaking on the theme “Sustaining Academic Excellence,” Mrs. Ntiri congratulated the graduating class for reaching an important milestone, stressing that their achievements were the product of years of discipline and consistency. “Excellence is never an accident; it was never a single event, nor was it a flawless final exam, but rather a continuous striving for excellence in your academic pursuits,” she told the graduates, adding that the real challenge begins after graduation.
Quoting the ancient Greek philosopher Aristotle, she reminded the students that, “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence is not an act, but a habit,” encouraging them to maintain the same commitment that had brought them this far. According to her, sustaining excellence requires continuous learning and an unwavering determination to improve despite life’s inevitable challenges.
Mrs. Ntiri urged the graduates to embrace “curiosity over credentials,” explaining that while certificates may open doors, a genuine desire to keep learning is what sustains long-term success. Citing Albert Einstein, she encouraged the students to remain inquisitive, read extensively, ask difficult questions and continuously equip themselves with knowledge in an ever-changing world.
She also called on the graduates to develop resilience, reminding them that setbacks should never define their future. Quoting former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill, she said, “Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts,” urging the students to treat every mistake as an opportunity to refine their approach rather than as a measure of their ability.
The medical practitioner further challenged the graduates to pursue knowledge with a sense of purpose, noting that true academic excellence reaches its highest value when it is used to improve society.
Referencing the late South African President Nelson Mandela’s famous words that “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world,” she encouraged the students to use their education to solve real-life problems, uplift their communities and leave a lasting legacy.
Mrs. Ntiri concluded by expressing appreciation to teachers, parents, mentors and guardians for their unwavering support throughout the students’ educational journey. She encouraged the graduates to set high standards for themselves, remain focused and resilient, and make excellence their lifelong signature, describing their graduation not as the end of learning but the beginning of greater opportunities and achievements.
Delivering the Headteacher’s address on behalf of Mrs. Eugenia Nyarko, Mr. Tettehvie Yaw Ametame Kutu described the anniversary as both a celebration and a period of reflection.
“Today is not only a day of celebration but also a day of reflection—a day to look back on a decade of dedication, resilience, growth and remarkable achievements,” the speech stated.
According to the Headteacher, the school was founded ten years ago with a vision to provide quality, holistic education that nurtures pupils academically, morally, spiritually and socially—a vision she said has become a reality through the support of God, dedicated teachers, committed parents and hardworking pupils.
Mrs. Nyarko highlighted the school’s deliberate emphasis on developing strong writing skills, explaining that pupils receive intensive training in handwriting, grammar, composition, creative writing and critical thinking.
“We believe that writing is the foundation of effective communication and academic success,” she noted, adding that many Adehyeman pupils are admired for their confidence and ability to express themselves effectively.
She also cited the school’s unique Morning Drill programme as a major contributor to improved memory, concentration and classroom performance through the daily recitation of concepts, formulas, vocabulary, multiplication tables and previously taught lessons.
Beyond academics, the Headteacher stressed the importance of discipline and moral values, saying the school intentionally nurtures honesty, respect, responsibility and the fear of God through assemblies and devotional activities.
“Academic excellence without character is incomplete,” she emphasised, adding that the institution seeks to produce responsible citizens and future leaders.
Mrs. Nyarko further noted that the school has embraced technology, including digital learning platforms, while the exhibition reflected its commitment to creativity, innovation and practical problem-solving.
Reviewing the school’s decade-long achievements, she said Adehyeman International School has produced hundreds of disciplined and academically outstanding pupils who continue to excel at higher levels of education.
“These accomplishments did not happen by chance. They are the result of visionary leadership, committed teachers, hardworking pupils, supportive parents and, above all, the grace of Almighty God,” she said.
Looking ahead, the Headteacher reaffirmed the school’s commitment to strengthening academic programmes, improving teaching methods, investing in technology and expanding infrastructure. She also encouraged parents to have confidence in quality education available within their communities, stressing that excellence is determined by effective teaching, strong values and proven results rather than distance.
She concluded by congratulating the graduating pupils, award winners, exhibitors, teachers and parents, expressing optimism that Adehyeman International School would continue building on its legacy of educational excellence in the years ahead.
