A Steadfast Heart
My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast; I will sing and give praise. Psalms 57:7
David was hiding in a cave, being pursued by Saul, and was far from experiencing any sense of settlement or stability around him.
Yet, he did not allow the turbulence around him to capture his heart.
David declared, “My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast” (Psalm 57:7). Twice, he made this declaration, affirming the steadfastness of his heart. David’s heart was unshakeable even when everything around him was shaking.
His heart was at peace in the midst of turbulence. The condition of his heart was completely different from the circumstances surrounding him.
How could David experience peace in the midst of trouble? His heart was fixed on God.
When our hearts are fixed, firm, and established in God, we can find inner peace and comfort even when everything around us seems to be going haywire.
Whatever happens, let your heart remain steadfast in its trust in God.
It is only a heart that is fixed on God that can sing in times of trouble. When our trust is in God, our hearts become firm and established in Him. As a result, we can sing, shout, and praise the God of our salvation – even in the midst of the storm. Shalom.
Prayer:Pray for a steadfast heart that trusts God no matter the situation.
