People’s National Convention (PNC) presidential candidate Bernard Anbataayela Mornah has congratulated newly elected National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu, and the party’s new national executive team.
Mr Mornah described Mr Boadu’s election as the culmination of years of political experience and leadership, saying he was confident the former NPP General Secretary would bring maturity and a spirit of cooperation to his new role.
In a congratulatory message, Mr Mornah said his relationship with Mr Boadu dated back to their years in youth leadership, during which they worked together to promote political dialogue and peaceful coexistence.
“John and I share a longstanding relationship forged during our years in youth leadership. Together, we helped establish the Inter-Party Youth Advisory Committee (IPYAC) and undertook joint initiatives to promote dialogue, political cooperation and peaceful coexistence, particularly among the youth wings of our respective parties,” he said.
According to Mr Mornah, the experience demonstrated that political differences should not prevent politicians from working together in the interest of Ghana.
“Those efforts built enduring friendships and affirmed that political differences need never prevent us from working together for Ghana,” he added.
He said Mr Boadu’s elevation to the national chairmanship did not come as a surprise, given his long experience within the NPP and his understanding of the responsibilities associated with the position.
“Having gone through the mill, he understands the weight of the responsibility he now carries. I trust that he will bring maturity, experience and a spirit of cooperation to his new role,” Mr Mornah stated.
Mr Mornah also congratulated former Greater Accra Regional Minister Titus-Glover on his election as the NPP’s National Organiser.
He expressed confidence that Mr Titus-Glover’s energy, campaigning experience and grassroots mobilisation skills would contribute positively to his work as National Organiser.
“I also warmly congratulate Titus-Glover on his election as National Organiser. His energy, campaigning experience and commitment to grassroots mobilisation will serve him well,” he said.
Mr Mornah further welcomed what he described as the energy and relative youthfulness of the newly elected NPP national executive team, saying it offered hope for Ghana’s democratic development.
He stressed that Ghana’s democracy required a strong and credible opposition capable of holding the government accountable while offering practical alternatives to improve citizens’ welfare.
“Ghana’s democracy needs a strong, credible and constructive opposition that holds government accountable, offers practical alternatives and places citizens’ welfare at the centre of national debate,” he said.
He expressed hope that the new NPP leadership would strengthen the party’s capacity to perform that role effectively.
Mr Mornah also reaffirmed the PNC’s willingness to work with political actors and groups whose ideas could contribute to national development.
“The People’s National Convention remains committed to working with all who advance ideas that promote national development and improve the lives of our people,” he said.
“Where our convictions meet, let us cooperate with purpose; where they differ, let us engage with respect,” Mr Mornah added.
He concluded by congratulating Mr Boadu and the entire newly elected NPP national executive team, while calling for collective efforts to strengthen Ghana’s democratic institutions and advance the interests of the Ghanaian people.
