The Member of Parliament for Bekwai, Hon. Ralph Poku-Adusei, has urged the newly elected executives of the TESCON branch at the Kokofu Nursing and Midwifery Training College (KNMTC) to balance their political responsibilities with academic excellence and responsible leadership.

Mr Poku-Adusei gave the advice when he hosted the new student leaders, led by President Asiedu Richard Adofo, together with the Bekwai Constituency executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), at his residence.

The meeting provided an opportunity for the MP and the party executives to discuss leadership expectations, student engagement and the role of young party members in strengthening the NPP’s presence on campus.

In his message to the newly elected leadership, the Bekwai legislator stressed that holding a student political position comes with responsibilities that extend beyond party activities.

“I charged the new executives, led by President Asiedu Richard Adofo, to provide responsible, inclusive and results-oriented leadership, remain academically focused, and serve as credible ambassadors of the party on campus,” he stated.

The MP’s message places academic commitment alongside political participation, encouraging the student leaders to ensure that their involvement in party activities does not undermine their primary responsibility as students.

He also called for leadership that accommodates different perspectives, delivers tangible results and reflects the values expected of representatives of a political organisation.

Mr Poku-Adusei said the engagement was designed to strengthen ties between TESCON and the constituency executives, enabling both groups to work more closely in pursuit of shared objectives.

“The engagement was an opportunity to fraternise, strategise and deepen collaboration between TESCON and the Constituency as we chart a common path forward,” he explained.

He further noted that the party’s future prospects depended partly on how effectively it empowered young people, organised its grassroots structures and communicated its policies and achievements to Ghanaians.

According to the MP, these priorities would be central to the NPP’s efforts to return to power in the 2028 general elections.

“Our discussions focused on the broader vision and strategy of the NPP to return to power in 2028 — anchored on unity, disciplined grassroots mobilization, youth empowerment, and the effective communication of our record and alternative policy proposition to Ghanaians,” he said.

His remarks reflect the importance of campus-based political organisations in developing young leaders who can contribute to public discourse while building organisational and communication skills.

The meeting also reinforced the need for cooperation between student leaders and constituency executives in creating opportunities for young members to participate in party organisation and policy discussions.

Mr Poku-Adusei reaffirmed the commitment of the constituency leadership to building a stronger youth front ahead of the next general election.

“Together with the Constituency leadership, we are committed to building a stronger, more energized youth front to secure victory in 2028,” he added.

He congratulated the new executives and expressed confidence in their ability to contribute to the party’s objectives.

“Congratulations to the new executives. We move forward together,” the Bekwai MP said.
