Member of Parliament for Bekwai, Hon. Ralph Poku-Adusei, has charged newly elected executives of the Tertiary Students Confederacy (TESCON) at the Kokofu Nursing and Midwifery Training College (KNMTC) to intensify grassroots mobilisation and help position the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for victory in the 2028 general elections.
He made the call when he hosted the newly elected TESCON executives, alongside the Bekwai Constituency executives of the party, at his residence for an engagement focused on strengthening cooperation between the student wing and the constituency leadership.
According to the MP, the meeting provided an important opportunity for both groups to exchange ideas, build relationships and develop strategies towards achieving the party’s electoral objectives.
“Our discussions focused on the broader vision and strategy of the NPP to return to power in 2028 — anchored on unity, disciplined grassroots mobilization, youth empowerment, and the effective communication of our record and alternative policy proposition to Ghanaians,” Mr Poku-Adusei stated.
He emphasised that a successful return to government would require more than campaign activities, insisting that party members must work together, communicate effectively and maintain a strong presence at the grassroots level.
The Bekwai MP also underscored the importance of youth participation in the party’s rebuilding and electoral preparations, describing collaboration between TESCON and constituency executives as an important component of the process.
He urged the student leaders to take their responsibilities seriously and demonstrate the leadership qualities needed to inspire confidence among their colleagues and the wider public.
“I charged the new executives, led by President Asiedu Richard Adofo, to provide responsible, inclusive and results-oriented leadership, remain academically focused, and serve as credible ambassadors of the party on campus,” he said.
Mr Poku-Adusei’s remarks highlight the role of tertiary student organisations in political mobilisation, particularly in shaping campus-level conversations, engaging young voters and communicating party policies.
He maintained that the constituency leadership was committed to building a more vibrant youth movement capable of contributing meaningfully to the NPP’s broader political objectives.
“Together with the Constituency leadership, we are committed to building a stronger, more energized youth front to secure victory in 2028,” the MP added.
The engagement forms part of efforts to strengthen relationships between the party’s student structures and constituency leadership as political parties begin positioning themselves for the next general election.
Congratulating the newly elected executives, Mr Poku-Adusei expressed optimism about their contribution to the party’s activities and future direction.
“Congratulations to the new executives. We move forward together,” he said.
His message places unity, grassroots organisation, youth empowerment and effective political communication at the centre of the NPP’s preparations for the 2028 elections.
