Ellesmere College tennis star has added Loughborough crown to her growing collection of international titles
Gwendolyn Duvor Klu, popularly known as Gwen, has continued her impressive rise in international tennis, winning the J60 Loughborough doubles title in England alongside her partner, Helena Geissler.
The pair claimed the ITF World Tennis Tour doubles crown after defeating Anne Wright and Isabella Rebel 6–3, 7–6(3) in the final at Loughborough over the weekend.
The victory marks Gwen and Geissler’s first ITF World Tennis Tour doubles title together on British soil and adds another milestone to Gwen’s growing list of achievements on the international tennis circuit.
The latest triumph comes shortly after Gwen returned from Ghana, where she won both ITF singles and doubles titles. Her continued success demonstrates her ability to compete across different tournaments while building valuable experience on the international stage.
Following her return from Ghana, Gwen granted an interview to the BBC, where she expressed her appreciation for the opportunities coming her way. She said she felt honoured and emphasised the importance of making a positive impression to create opportunities for the future.
Gwen also expressed gratitude to Ellesmere College for its continued support, acknowledging the institution’s role in supporting her development as a young tennis player.
Despite her recent successes, financial support remains an important factor in Gwen’s tennis journey. Her family currently funds her competition expenses, and she hopes her growing list of international achievements will attract sponsors willing to invest in her future.
With titles already coming her way in Ghana and England, Gwen is building momentum and raising her profile in the sport. Her latest success at Loughborough is another encouraging step in her pursuit of greater achievements on the international tennis stage.
As she continues to develop her game and gain international recognition, sponsorship support could play a crucial role in helping her access more tournaments and pursue her ambitions in tennis.
