Some Residents of Nsakina Sawmill, a suburb in the Greater Accra region are calling on the government and the Electricity Company of Ghana to resolve and fix the unbearable power interruptions in the area.

The residents have been experiencing the unbearable situation for over a year now.

They lamented that the low power supply is also due to a malfunctional transformer at a substation JN01/31, located in the area.

Speaking to some Residents, they lamented the poor treatment from the ECG and government.

Adding that the low shortage has rendered most of their electrical appliances uses.

“We experienced “dumsor” every day, Constant low voltage and for that matter, we can not use refrigerator, iron, Air Condition, microwave, and any other economical house whole electrical gadgets.

They disclosed that due to the unbearable condition, the area has become a den and hideout for notorious armed robbers, “The increased power outage at Nsakina Sawmill has increased crime and making us living in fear and panic. The Hollywood Sawmill stretch has been turned into an avalanched of robbery and murder in the nite due to the power outage.

The residents also stated that several Official appeals and complaints have been lodged to the appropriate headquarters but yet to bear any fruit.

They took the opportunity to call on the government and the management of the Electricity Company of Ghana to come to their aid to provide sustainable living at the area.

“We wish to make a passionate appeal to the Managing Director of ECG – Ing. Kwame Agyeman Budu to come to our aid to bring improvement on this menace of energy crisis and a constant power outage at Nsakina Sawmill.

They should provide us with new transformers to augment the power supply at Nsakina Sawmill Substation to salvage the canker of chronic dumsor and unwarranted low voltage,” Some Residents at Nsakina Sawmill stated.
