Veteran boxing official, Mr. J. A. Annan has named the late Nii Quaye Mensah and current president of the Ghana Boxing Authority, Abraham Neequaye as his best boxing administrators over the years.

The 87-year-old former Secretary of the Ghana Boxing Authority said they were the people who put something on the ground, be Mensah produced a giant ring and provided electricity at the Kaneshie Sports Complex, while Neequaye has also changed the GBA office, bought a car and he is currently organizing the Professional Boxing League with the support of Imax Media and other companies.

In an exclusive interview with GBA PRO, Mohammed Amin Lamptey on Max TV, he recounted the achievements of all of Ghana’s world boxing champions and advised that discipline is the key to a successful boxer.

He said Ghana Boxing has come a long way, and advised boxers and their management to comply with the GBA directive and pay the percentage that would be used for processing their documents and putting the GBA office in shape.

Mr. Annan said he had an interest in boxing when he attended a boxing match and wanted to be at the ringside which forced him to contract officials and learn more to achieve more.

Mr. J. A. Annan who was born in Korle Gonno in Accra was a former employee of the Standard Bank in Ghana. He was one of the officials who drafted the GBA Constitution which is undergoing review for amendments.
