The Executive Director of the International OlympAfrica Foundation, Mr. Alhassane Thierno Diack is on a working visit to Ghana to supervise the construction of a sports center of excellence for kids and youth at Amasaman.
The Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) has acquired the Amasaman site and has been able to assure the OlympAfrica Foundation to prepare the land and use it for its main purpose.
The OlympAfrica Foundation had previously pumped over USD$250,000 dollars into the project during the era of Hon. B. T. Baba, but it was stopped and Ghana was suspended, due to poor accountability and lack of transparency.
Mr. Diack who has been visiting and closely working with current GOC President Mr. Ben Nunoo Mensah said the Youth Resource Center must be built for the community kids of Amasaman to have a sporting facility for their development.
He revealed that OlympAfrica Foundation is ready to invest 150,000 dollars towards the construction of the project under the administration of the Ghana Olympic Committee.
Last Friday, Mr. Ben Nunoo Mensah and Mr. Isaac Duah led Mr. Alhassane Thierno Diack to the Amasaman project site to see how fast construction can start by next month and he promises the GOC President of more donations to the proposed to complete and put the facility in shape for use by kids for sports and other social events.
Mr. Alhassane Thierno Diack said Africa has over 44 Youth Resource Centres excluding Ghana where sports talents abound.
He commended Mr. Ben Nunoo Mensah for his personal effort in ensuring that the Amasaman Kids and Youth Sports and Recreational Center become a reality.
He advised the GOC to work very fast on the Amasaman project to be able to access other funds from OlympAfrica.
