The CEO of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, has revealed that a total amount of GH¢10million has so far been disbursed to applicants of the Youth in Innovative Agriculture Support initiative under the Ghana cares Obaatampa Programme.
He revealed that a total number of 1,000 youths across the country had so far been given grants to boost their businesses from last year 2022.
Briefing the media, he said, this innitiative is a three and a half year programme which its main objective is to mitigate the negative impact of COVID-19.
“We are confident that this will return the country to a sustained path of robust growth and to create a more resilient and transformed economy,” he said.
He made it clear that “It is not the totality of government’s economic development programme, but rather, it represents the strategic interventions that will foster a quicker recovery and boost our post-COVID economic transformation.”
On her part, the Chief Director of Ministry of Finance, Madam Eva Mends, reiterated that agriculture and entrepreneurship is the key potential to transforming the economy because they contribute massively to the national economy
“This also also provides a source of food supply, as well as raw materials for value chain prospects,” she said.
She therefore assured that her sector is strongly partnering with NEIP to further deepen their work and build up and woo more young persons, especially into agriculture.
