The Akatsi South Municipal Legal Officer, Lawyer Lord Percival Junior Agbavor, has commenced a pro bono community tour aimed at reviving and enforcing the long-dormant by-laws across the Municipality.
The exercise, which began today in the Avenorpedo Zone one of the five geopolitical zones within Akatsi South marks a major step toward strengthening local governance and accountability.
Lawyer Agbavor, who also serves as a Government Appointee, Branch Chairman, and Ward Coordinator of the NDC in Akatsi South, is personally leading the initiative to educate community members on the relevance of these by-laws to everyday life.
His approach emphasizes awareness, collaboration, and community responsibility in ensuring a well-structured and law-abiding municipality.
The Presiding Member’s Electoral Area, Avenorpedo, will be the first major stop on the tour, where the exercise is expected to draw strong participation from the Honourable Assembly Member, Hon. Raphael Ahiable, traditional leaders, and residents.
Excitement has been high among elected Assembly Members, who have described the move as timely and inspiring.
Many expressed their appreciation to Lawyer Agbavor for dedicating his professional expertise to the service of the people without financial reward.
They believe the initiative will not only enhance community discipline but also help improve the Assembly’s ability to enforce regulations on sanitation, land use, and environmental protection.
According to Lawyer Agbavor, the revival of local by-laws is crucial to the development agenda of Akatsi South, as effective law enforcement is the foundation for sustainable progress.
He stressed that communities that understand and adhere to their local regulations tend to attract more investment, maintain cleaner environments, and experience stronger social harmony.
The tour, which will continue across all five geopolitical zones of the Municipality in the coming weeks, is expected to foster a renewed sense of civic responsibility and lay the groundwork for a more disciplined and progressive Akatsi South.
