Mr. Emmanuel Treku, Chief Executive Officer of Inter Tourism Expo Accra

Accra, Ghana – May 1, 2026—The just-ended Training Program on Tourism, Hospitality and Business Reporting, held on April 30, 2026 in Accra, has received overwhelmingly positive feedback from participants, signaling a renewed momentum toward strengthening tourism journalism in Ghana.

Speaking after the training, Mr. Emmanuel Treku, Chief Executive Officer of Inter Tourism Expo Accra, expressed deep satisfaction with the level of engagement, enthusiasm, and practical insights demonstrated by participants.

Mr. Treku noted that the training, organized by Inter Tourism Expo Accra in collaboration with the Rebecca Ekpe Mentorship Program for Journalists and Content Creators, successfully achieved its core objective of equipping media professionals with the tools needed to tell compelling tourism stories.

“The feedback from participants has been extremely encouraging. Many expressed how the sessions have reshaped their understanding of tourism reporting—not just as coverage, but as a strategic tool for national development,” he stated.

He emphasized that the insights gained during the training would serve as a catalyst for more structured and impactful storytelling across Ghana’s tourism, hospitality, and business sectors.

According to him, the next critical step is to fast-track the formation of a Tourism Press Corps—an organized network of trained journalists and content creators dedicated to promoting Ghana’s tourism narrative both locally and internationally.

“We are committed to building a strong Tourism Press Corps that will champion destination storytelling, drive visibility, and support Ghana’s tourism growth agenda. This training is just the beginning. We look forward to rolling out more capacity-building opportunities in the coming months,” Mr. Treku added.

The training was further enriched by a thought-provoking keynote delivered by the Founder of the Rebecca Ekpe Mentorship Program for Journalists and Content Creators and Vice President of the Ghana Journalists Association, who delivered a compelling call to action under the theme: “Building Ghana’s Tourism Voice: A Call to Tell Our Story with Purpose.”

In the address, participants were urged to move beyond routine reporting and embrace strategic storytelling that inspires travel, attracts investment, and shapes Ghana’s global image.

“We are not just training journalists—we are building a movement. A Tourism Press Corps that will transform how Ghana is seen and experienced through powerful, purposeful storytelling,” the speaker emphasized.

The event also highlighted the importance of partnerships in advancing the tourism agenda.

Mr. Treku extended sincere appreciation to the management of Eden Gardens Hotel for their generous support and hospitality, which contributed significantly to the success of the program.

As part of efforts to enhance participant experience, a raffle draw was organized, adding an exciting highlight to the event.

One lucky participant walked away with a complimentary night’s stay at the hotel, a gesture that was met with great enthusiasm and appreciation.

Participants described the training as timely, practical, and highly impactful, with many expressing interest in further sessions focused on specialized areas such as destination marketing, tourism investment reporting, and digital storytelling.

The success of the program reinforces the growing recognition that tourism is not just about destinations—but about narratives, experiences, and the voices that bring them to life.

With renewed commitment from stakeholders and the anticipated formation of the Tourism Press Corps, Ghana’s tourism sector is poised to benefit from a new wave of strategic, high-quality storytelling that can drive visibility, growth, and global competitiveness.
