God our Refuge
Have mercy on me, my God, have mercy on me, for in you I take refuge. I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings until the disaster has passed. Psalms 57:1
Psalm 57 was written by David when he fled from Saul and sought refuge in a cave.
In verse 1, David prayed for the mercy of God because he knew he could not approach God in his own righteousness. It is by the mercies of God that we can enter into His presence.
David then acknowledged that he had taken refuge in God. Although he was physically hiding in a cave, David knew that there was no better place of protection than God Himself.
God is a safe and secure refuge in times of trouble.
When the world seems to be falling apart around you, there is a place in God where you can find refuge. His presence is a place of safety, even in the midst of life’s storms.
The Bible says, “The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe” (Proverbs 18:10).
In God, we find safety from the troubles and woes of this world.
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble” (Psalm 46:1).
Whatever you may be facing today, run to God and find your safe place of refuge in Him. He is your shelter, your strength, and your ever-present help in times of trouble. Shalom.
Prayer: Pray that God will be your safe refuge and place of protection in times of trouble.
