…Three Days Into China Mission, Volta Delegation Secures Investment Pacts Under Ambassador Kojo Bonsu’s Guidance

FOSHAN, Guangdong Province, China – In a major boost for the Volta Region’s development agenda, the delegation of Volta Chiefs currently on a business and investment visit to Guangdong Province, China, today signed three different Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) agreements with Chinese industrial giants.

The high-level delegation, which is on a one-week business and investment mission, secured the deals barely 72 hours after arriving in China, signaling a rapid and productive start to their economic diplomacy drive.

The MOUs were signed in three critical sectors identified as key to transforming the Volta Region’s local economy.

The first MOU is in Technology with Guangdong Welleap Information Technology Company, a leading Chinese tech firm, aimed at driving digital transformation and technology transfer to the Volta Region.

The second agreement is in Construction, signed with Foshan Jinting Construction Engineering Co., Ltd, one of Foshan’s prominent construction and engineering giants, to support infrastructure and industrial development in the Volta traditional areas.

The third is a comprehensive Investment pact with SINOHUI Investment Ghana Limited, which is expected to serve as a vehicle for channeling massive Chinese direct investment into Ghana.

According to the delegation, the agreements are part of a concerted and strategic effort to bring sustainable development to their traditional areas in the Volta Region and Ghana as a whole.

The historic project signing and cooperation ceremony was held in Foshan, one of China’s leading manufacturing and industrial hubs, renowned for its global export strength.

The ceremony was formally led by the President of the Volta Regional House of Chiefs, Togbe Tepre Hodo IV, who signed on behalf of the chiefs, together with the Business Consultant and Coordinator of the trip, Mr. Peter Ahiekpor.

The event was held under the distinguished guidance of Ghana’s Ambassador to China, H.E. Kojo Bonsu, and his able Guangzhou Consulate staff led by the Consul-General, Mr. Sidney Kwesi Ellis.

Ambassador Kojo Bonsu, who has been personally guiding the delegation through factory visits and business negotiations, has been credited with facilitating direct access to top-tier Chinese manufacturers and investors.

Sources close to the delegation disclosed that the Chinese industrial partners are highly impressed with the seriousness, unity and clear development vision presented by the Volta Chiefs.

Similarly, the chiefs themselves have expressed deep satisfaction with the outcome of just three days of intensive site visits, factory inspections and business-to-business meetings.

A member of the delegation noted that the speed and quality of the engagements far exceeded their initial expectations, giving strong confidence that the mission will yield tangible results.

The delegation has emphasized that they will continue to make maximum use of the remaining days of their one-week visit to ensure Ghana benefits from cutting-edge Chinese technology transfer and massive investments.

This swift signing of three MOUs in just 72 hours is seen as a strong vindication of Ambassador Kojo Bonsu’s earlier assurance that the chiefs “will go back with joy.”

It also demonstrates the effectiveness of his aggressive economic diplomacy drive and the proactive support of the Ghana Consulate in Guangzhou in opening doors for traditional leaders.

The chiefs believe the partnerships will create jobs, boost local manufacturing, improve infrastructure, and position the Volta Region as a new investment destination in Ghana.
