Fruits of Righteousness
Filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God. Philippians 1:11
This verse forms part of Paul’s prayer for the church in Philippi. He prayed that believers would be filled with the fruits of righteousness through Jesus Christ.
The fruits of righteousness refer to a life that is rightly aligned with God and increasingly characterised by righteous living.
Righteousness begins in the heart, but it must become evident in the way we live. Our conduct reveals the condition of our hearts. As we mature spiritually, our lives should increasingly reflect the character and nature of Christ.
This means that spiritual maturity must be demonstrated through Christlike living. The fruit of righteousness is seen in our attitudes, choices, relationships, words, and actions.
The fruits of righteousness come from Christ. He continually pours His grace into our hearts, transforming us and enabling us to become more like Him. We do not produce this fruit by our own strength; it is Christ working in and through us.
The ultimate purpose of bearing the fruits of righteousness is the glory of God. When our lives produce good fruit, God is glorified through us.
Bearing fruit is by Christ, but it is for God’s glory.
How humbling it is to know that we bear the fruits of righteousness not by ourselves, but through Christ. The fruit is not for our own glory or recognition; it is ultimately for the glory of God.
Christ, our righteousness, enables us to bear the fruits of righteousness so that God may be glorified through our lives.
May your life continually bear the fruits of righteousness, bringing glory and honour to God. Shalom.
Prayer: Pray that God will continually empower you through Christ to bear the fruits of righteousness and bring glory to His name.
