Togolese cultural entrepreneur NIHTAEL Nodjigno has launched an ambitious initiative to mobilise at least CFA 9 billion for a proposed modern concert venue with a target capacity of 5,000 people in Lomé, Togo.
The amount represents the project promoter’s minimum funding target, with the actual cost expected to be determined after professional feasibility studies and independent quotations are completed.
The concept for the venue envisages a fully equipped performance space featuring a main stage, a large standing audience area, dedicated seating, VIP areas, artist dressing rooms, a technical control room and visitor facilities.
According to the promoter, the ambition behind the project is to provide Togolese artists with suitable, professional performance conditions while also creating the capacity to welcome major international shows to the Togolese capital.
The initiative is currently at the concept stage, with no acquired site and no construction financing being announced at this time.
Project details such as final capacity, precise location, technical choices and overall budget will require professional validation before any construction timeline can be set.
No opening date has therefore been announced for the proposed venue.
To move the idea forward, NIHTAEL is actively seeking a range of technical and financial partners to support the project from its earliest phase.
He is specifically looking for land partners, architects, engineering consultants, investors and corporate sponsors, starting with the skills and resources needed to conduct a comprehensive feasibility study.
The invitation for partnership is open to interested individuals and organisations in Togo, Côte d’Ivoire and beyond, though no partnership is being presented as secured at this stage.
Speaking about his motivation for the project, NIHTAEL expressed strong personal determination to see the venue realized, even if external support is slow to come.
“I am looking for partners to bring this concert venue in Lomé to life. If I cannot find anyone to support me, I will do everything I can to build it myself within ten years. I am ready to make progress step by step, work and raise the resources needed,” he said.
He clarified that the ten-year horizon, which runs to October 2036, expresses his personal determination and should not be interpreted as a guaranteed funding commitment or an approved construction schedule.
He is confident that such an infrastructure could address a long-standing gap in Togo’s entertainment and creative arts sector, where large-capacity, purpose-built concert venues remain limited.
For now, NIHTAEL is inviting newsrooms and media platforms to consider an independent article or interview about the project and its ongoing search for partners.
He believes that media coverage could play a crucial role in helping him connect with people and organisations able to support the studies and development of the venue.
