The items were subsequently received by the Resident Doctor of the Center, Dr. Daasebre Ahensan, on behalf of the Chief Executive Officer of the hospital, Dr. Opoku Ware Ampomah. Also present were the Deputy Chief Nursing Officer of the Burns and Plastics Center in the person of Madam Mavis Torgbor, the Administrator of the Center Mr. Ameyaw Bronya, a Senior Consultant, Dr. A.G. Laing, and a team of other medical doctors and nurses and workers at the unit.

According to Mrs. Diana Wunyala, the donation formed part of her company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.

“This is part of Essence Derma Care’s CSR projects and also in response to the challenges that we witnessed last year on 8th December 2020 when we had the opportunity to do a presentation on our scar management products to the center. We were taken around the ward after the presentation and we came to the realisation that the centre needed support, so we had to do something in our own small way,” she said.

She mentioned that during the visit, they witnessed some of the patients, who after suffering severe injuries as a result of burns and having being admitted at the hospital for a long time, were unable to even foot their bills.

Touching on the operations of Essence Derma Care, this is what the Operations Manager had to share:

“We provide the best of surgical and therapeutic skincare range and this is why we are focused and passionate about helping our clients obtain the best healthy skincare products to keep and maintain healthy beautiful skin.

We are a reliable source of great skincare. We have good products that deal with all manner of scars, professional skincare routine, anti-aging, acnes, among others.”

In a remark after receiving the items, Dr. Ahensan expressed his profound gratitude to the CEO and the entire Essence Derma Care team.

“We’ve been in contact with this company since December. They came to do a presentation on their scar management products including moisturizers among others. They gave us some samples to test as well. One of us also took them around the burns ward.

…Over here, scarring especially for burns is a very major issue. The trauma of the burn injury itself is so devastating and then the cost of managing the issue because the scars after the burns may try to hinder their coming back to society. So how to manage a scar is a very big problem; and so we are so grateful to them for the donations,” he concluded.
