Head coach of the Senior National Team, the Black Stars, Milovan Rajevac has urged the referees to improve on their performance in the ongoing Africa cup of nations in Cameroon.

The competition, which took off on a good note with top-notch referees, has attracted some vile comments from some pundits and followers of the competition following the bizarre decision of Zambian referee Janny Sikazwe to end the game between Mali and Tunisia twice.

Sikazwe, blew the whistle to end the game on the 85th before the continent’s football governing body CAF reversed the decision to allow play to continue only for the Zambian to end the game on the 89th minute which is before the regulation time.

This act has caused a lot of followers to make negative comments about Africa’s topmost football festival. According to the Serbian tactician, referees must improve their performance to minimize the errors and controversies surrounding the tournament.

“It’s not my style to comment on officiating. I usually don’t do that but there are a lot of controversies around officiating and the whole world is talking about it.

Even when we look at our match [against Morocco] and per our judgment, we should have been given a penalty but VAR didn’t bother to check. And there were many decisions that were questionable, especially what happened yesterday in the match and it’s becoming an issue. we hope in the next days of the competition, officiating will be less controversial and fair to promote the beautiful game.”
