Fire on Monday, April 25, 2022, gutted a building with merchandise at the Opera Square in the Central Business District of Accra.

The fire has destroyed some shops and valuables running into several thousands of Ghana Cedis.

GBC News’ Reporter, Juliet Mettle Edmonds, who was at the scene reports that the fire is believed to have emanated from a welding activity at the Shop located at Opera Square in Accra.

At the time of filing this report a number of firefighters had arrived on the scene to douse the fire.

It is also believed that the shops hold merchandise belonging to traders who bought goods from China.

Items possibly destroyed by the fire include; bags, shoes, and other home appliances.
