The Private Newspaper Publishers Association of Ghana (PRINPAG) shall organize elections on Friday, August 12, 2022, to elect new officers to steer the affairs of the Association for the next three (3) years (2022 -2025).

A three (3)member Committee has been appointed to oversee the elections.

The Committee is made up of Mr. Ben Assorow, Managing Editor of the Catholic Standard as Chairman, Mr. Gyamfi Boaten former Editor, Christian Messenger, and Mr. Desmond Darko, of the Catalyst Newspaper as members. Kenteman Nii-Laryea Sowah serves as the Secretary to the Committee.

Outlining their Time-table the Elections Committee has fixed Friday, August 12, 2022, for Elections and Declaration of Results. Other programme line-ups are as follows:

  • Picking of Nomination Forms –Monday, July 4, 2022, and closing of Nominations on Friday, July 15, 2022.
  • Nomination Fees for all positions across board fixed at THREE HUNDRED GHANA CEDIS (GH₵300.00).
  • Deadline for the payment of Dues by all members –Friday, July 29, 2022.
  • Publication of List of Candidates and Eligible Voters in selected Newspapers on Monday, August 1, 2022.
  • Filing of Nominations on Tuesday, August 2, 2022.
  • Vetting of all Aspiring Candidates on Thursday, August 4, 2022 from 2:00pm –5:00pm.

The Terms of Reference for the Committee shall include but are not limited to the following:

  1. Shall outline the TIME-TABLE for the nominations, vetting, and elections of all eligible candidates who shall declare their intent to stand for the following positions: PRESIDENT, VICE-PRESIDENT, NATIONAL ORGANIZER, TREASURER & PUBLIC AFFAIRS OFFICER.
  2. Fix the DATE for the Elections & declaration of results.
  1. Shall confirm the album from the list of qualified voters.
  1. Shall be responsible for the vetting of nominees and ensuring compliance to election protocols.
  2. Shall cause to be published the LISTS OF ELIGIBLE CANDIDATES as well as QUALIFIED VOTERS in selected private Newspapers as well as the PRINPAG WhatsApp Page.
  3. Shall strictly abide by the Provisions in the PRINPAG CONSTITUTION on the Conduct of Elections.

The Elections Committee has promised to deliver a fair and credible elections to keep the PRINPAG brand glowing in the eyes of all Publishers and Owners of private newspapers and online media portals as well as the general public.
