At its emergency meeting today, the Akatsi South Youth Parliament declared June 26th a day of protest against the rising insecurity that has engulfed the heart of the municipality.

Thus, according to sources close to the well-organized association, follows an alarming escalation of attacks and frequent killings of the residents that have left people feeling more unsafe, exposing the utter failure of the authorities to protect lives and properties.

According to a concerned citizen, “The endless killings and the stunning failure of the authorities to end them and bring suspected perpetrators to justice have been and continue to be a threat to the right to live in the municipality”.

Some constituents speaking to the media revealed that it is no longer news that Akatsi South has become the hotbed of armed robbery and other heinous crimes in the region.

Worried by the situation wherein criminals have freely turned the killing of innocent citizens and other vulnerable citizens into a lucrative business in the municipality, following the lackluster approach in the fight against the menace, a letter signed by the speaker of the Akatsi South youth parliament, Rt Hon. Daniel Amuzu Kale has invited the people of the area to a red attire-protest meant to demonstrate their displeasure and frustration to the world.
