The death is reported of lawyer Anthony Akoto Ampaw famed for his legal prowess and also a champion of human rights.

He’s said to have died at the University of Ghana Medical Center (UGMC) in the early hours of Friday, October 20, 2023.

Affectionately known as ‘Che Che’ from his days as a student at the University of Ghana, Lawyer Akoto Ampaw was a key figure in the New Patriotic Party’s legal team during the Electoral Petition of 2013.

His legal expertise and dedication to upholding the rule of law earned him the respect of peers, colleagues, and the nation.

It was no surprise that in 2020, he was selected to head the legal team of President Akufo-Addo during the Election petition trial brought against his 2020 victory by former President Mahama and the largest opposition National Democratic Congress.

Lawyer Akoto Ampaw until his demise was a partner at Akufo-Addo, Prempeh & Co., President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s law firm.

His impeccable legacy extended into the legal profession and human rights advocacy, where he championed campaigns for fair justice and the protection of human rights.

The veteran lawyer, family sources said, has not been well since the beginning of 2023.
