Praise Unstoppable
Awake, my glory! Awake, lute and harp! I will awaken the dawn. Psalms 57:8
After declaring that his heart was steadfast, David proceeded to intentionally praise his God.
The situation may be bad, but make a conscious decision to praise the Lord.
David first said, “Awake, my glory!” He was speaking to his innermost being, calling himself to rise up and praise God. This tells us that, despite everything happening around him, David did not necessarily feel like praising God. He had to make a conscious decision to worship the Lord.
Then he declared, “Awake, lute and harp!” David was calling the instruments of praise to come alive. He was determined to give God his best praise.
Finally, David said, “I will awaken the dawn.” In other words, David was declaring that before the dawn broke, he would already be awake, praising God.
David was making praise a priority. He would rise early, even before dawn, to worship and praise the Lord.
David’s life was in danger, but his determination to praise God, even in difficult times, remained resolute. His circumstances did not silence his praise.
David still speaks to us today:
Keep praising God, even when everything seems to be against you.
When you do not feel like praising, make the decision to praise. When circumstances are difficult, choose worship. When the night seems long, awake the dawn and praise the Lord. Shalom.
Prayer: Pray for the grace to keep praising God, no matter what happens or what circumstances you may face.
