Mercy And Truth
For Your mercy reaches unto the heavens, And Your truth unto the clouds. Psalms 57:10
David decided to praise God while hiding from Saul in a cave.
In verse 10, David gives us the reason he could praise God even when everything around him looked bad: God’s character.
It was God’s mercy and truth that made praise possible in the cave.
God’s mercy speaks of His unfailing commitment to His covenant promises. God is a covenant-keeping God, and He remains faithful regardless of what we face.
God’s truth speaks of His reliability, faithfulness, and trustworthiness. God is completely dependable.
David declared that God’s mercy reaches to the heavens and His truth to the clouds. In other words, if we were to measure the extent of God’s mercy, faithfulness, and reliability, they would go beyond the heavens and the clouds. They are immeasurable.
We trust God because of who He is, not because of how we feel or what our circumstances look like.
Our present situation never changes God’s character. He is faithful when we are in the cave, and He remains faithful when we come out of it.
What God has committed to do in your life is not cancelled by your present circumstances. His promises remain sure because His character remains unchanged.
It is in God’s nature to fulfil every promise He has made. He is faithful and reliable to the very end.
So, whatever your “cave” may look like today, keep trusting Him. God is faithful. God is reliable. God will accomplish all that He has purposed concerning you. Shalom.
Prayer: Thank God for His mercy and truth. Thank Him for His faithfulness and reliability, and for the assurance that He will accomplish all that He has said concerning you.
