Light Of The World
Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” John 8:12
In John 8, a woman was brought to Jesus after being caught in adultery. Jesus told her accusers that anyone who was without sin should be the first to stone her. One by one, they left until no one remained. Jesus then said to the woman, “Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more” (John 8:11).
Then Jesus spoke again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life” (John 8:12).
Jesus is the definitive Light of the World. Without Him, the world and its systems operate in darkness.
Darkness represents sin, spiritual ignorance, unbelief, separation from God, evil, and death.
In Christ, the light of God shines into every darkness, revealing God’s way, His love, and His life.
While Christ is the Light of the World, we are called to follow Him in order to walk in His light. This means believing that Jesus is the Christ and daily living according to His Word and His ways. As we follow Him, His light becomes evident in our lives.
Anyone who follows Jesus Christ will have the light of life. God’s light radiates through such a person, and His glory is revealed through their life.
Jesus is the Light of the World. In Him, we receive the light of life. Shalom.
Prayer: Pray for a heart that obediently follows Jesus, so that His light will shine brightly through your life.
