Connected for Fruitfulness
That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither— whatever they do prospers. Psalms 1:3
Psalm 1 describes the progression into a fruitful lifestyle.
Fruitfulness starts with separation from sin (Psalm 1:1).
Then, it continues to fruitful practices. The righteous delights in the law and meditates on it day and night (Psalm 1:2).
Separation from ungodly ways and the practice of godliness become a source of blessing. Such a person becomes like a tree planted by streams of water.
Fruitfulness is intentional. To be fruitful, one must be planted and properly rooted.
The strength and fruitfulness of a tree are sustained by its roots and its location. In the same way, separation from ungodly ways and the practice of godliness are like the streams that sustain a fruitful life.
When our roots are properly connected to the streams of God, He continually nourishes and supplies us with His blessings.
Because God is the source of our blessings, there is prosperity in everything the righteous person does.
Psalm 1 teaches us that when we are rooted in the Word of God, He nourishes our lives and enables us to prosper.
You are like a tree planted by streams of water when you abide in God’s Word.
The Word of God connects you to His life-giving presence, blessings, and fruitfulness. Shalom.
Prayer: Pray that you will delight in the Word of God and separate yourself from unhealthy and ungodly conduct so that your life may experience the blessings and fruitfulness of God.
