The 2026 African ECK Soul Adventure Seminar has come to a successful climax at the ECK Temple at East Legon Okponglo in Accra, bringing together participants for a continental gathering focused on spiritual growth, love and personal development.
The seminar, attracted participants from several African countries and beyond, is being held under the theme, “Living your Spiritual Purpose.”
The event also formed part of activities marking the 50th Anniversary of the founding of ECKANKAR in Ghana also under the theme, “Celebrating 50 Years of Eckankar in Ghana – Learning to Love As God Loves”, giving the gathering additional significance for members and followers of the spiritual organisation.
Speaking during a media interaction at the Seminar, Mrs Enyonam Ofei, Co-Regional ECK Spiritual Aide, described the theme as a universal message with relevance to humanity regardless of one’s religious background.
“The theme for the Anniversary is ‘Learning to Love, As God Loves,’ and that is something we could call a universal theme because that’s why we are here on earth,” she said.
According to her, humanity’s purpose includes learning how to love in a manner that reflects divine love and using that understanding to positively influence others.
“We are here to learn how God loves, so if anybody is able to do that and when you go back to God, God is able to give you an assignment to come back and help others do the same, to learn as God loves,” Mrs Ofei explained.
She used the natural world to illustrate what she described as the impartial nature of divine love, noting that God’s blessings are not selectively distributed based on geographical location or individual circumstances.
“How does God love? You may have a few examples. Today it didn’t rain but we are having sunshine. God is not saying I am going to give sunshine to those in Accra and somewhere else they won’t get sunshine because I am punishing them for some sin. No!” she stated.
Mrs Ofei said the example demonstrates that divine love extends to all creation without discrimination, a principle she believes people are also expected to embrace in their relationship with others.
“God gives love to all creation and that is what we are also to learn to do and give love to all the people around us”, she said.
She stressed that love should not be restricted to selected individuals or groups, arguing that everyone deserves to experience love because, in her view, humanity shares a divine origin.
“Everybody around us should be given love because it is our nature. We are made in the image of God, so if God is love then we are love and to give love,” Mrs Ofei added.
She further explained that the message of the Anniversary and Seminar is not intended exclusively for members of ECKANKAR but can be embraced by people from different religious and spiritual backgrounds.
“If you are not an ECKist, it doesn’t matter. We all talk about God in various languages. Each one of us has a name for God,” she said.
Mrs Ofei encouraged people to focus on developing love and recognising the higher spiritual power they believe to be the creator regardless of the terminology or religious tradition they follow.
“That higher entity that you think is the creator of all beings, that you recognise as all-powerful, all-knowing and everything is divine love, so we must learn to love”, she said.
She emphasised that people do not necessarily have to identify as ECKists to appreciate the central message of the Seminar, because, in her words, humanity is ultimately on a spiritual journey towards God.
“You don’t even have to be an ECKist, because we are all going back to God, but we need to learn the lessons,” Mrs Ofei stated.
She also linked the concept of spiritual learning to reincarnation, explaining that she believes human beings are given repeated opportunities to learn and develop spiritually.
“If you don’t learn how to love as God loves you, it doesn’t really matter, you will come back. That’s why we have reincarnation because God knows we cannot take one lifetime to learn how to love,” she said.
According to her, the idea of returning to learn can be likened to going back to school, with each lifetime providing another opportunity for personal and spiritual development.
“So, we are always given the opportunity to come back and learn. It’s like just going back to school, ” Mrs Ofei explained.
She said this belief also reflects the idea that God gives humanity sufficient time and opportunities to learn the lessons necessary for spiritual growth and to make better choices.
“Because God has a lot of time for us to just do the right thing,” she said, urging people to take the message of love seriously.
Mrs Ofei said the Seminar therefore seeks to communicate a simple but profound message to people in Ghana and beyond: that learning to love as God loves should be a central part of human existence.
“This message is for all of us. We should just learn how God loves. That’s our message and we are trying to give everybody and every Ghanaian who is ready to listen to this message,” she stated.
She also clarified that ECKANKAR’s approach to spirituality places considerable emphasis on individual spiritual responsibility rather than merely belonging to a collective religious group.
“Eckankar, as a religion, is really not a group thing; it’s for the individual because you see, for each one, you have to take good care of yourself. And that’s the message,” Mrs Ofei concluded.
The 2026 African ECK Soul Adventure Seminar and its activities are designed to deepen participants’ understanding of spiritual principles, personal responsibility and the practice of love, as ECKANKAR Ghana marks five decades since its establishment in the country.
