The Achimota Golf Club Ladies Section has raised GH¢96,960.44 to support the procurement of breast cancer equipment for the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital through the 2026 Ocean Network Express (ONE) Pink Cup Tournament.

The tournament, held on Saturday, October 17, at the Achimota Golf Club in Accra, brought together golfers, corporate sponsors and health advocates to raise funds for breast cancer care and promote awareness of the importance of early detection.

Led by Lady Captain Kous Louanges Mang, the event exceeded its target for golfer participation and more than doubled the contribution raised compared with the previous year.

The funds were presented through a dummy cheque, with title sponsor Ocean Network Express (ONE) supporting the initiative to strengthen breast cancer care at the hospital.

The Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dr Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, attended the event, joining organisers and participants in highlighting the importance of collective action in addressing breast cancer.

Community outreach promotes early detection

Ahead of the tournament, the club organised a Community Pink Clinic on October 10, offering general health screening and promoting preventive healthcare.

The initiative complemented the fundraising tournament by encouraging community members to pay attention to their health and embrace preventive screening.

The Ladies Section acknowledged the contributions of its sponsors and partners, including ONE, KEK Group, Japan Motors, CalBank, Accelerate, Fairway Golf Academy, Destinations au Soleil, NZ Wine GH, Breast Care International, Claron Health International and Ignite Group.

Media partners Metro TV, Joy News and Citi FM were also recognised for helping raise awareness of the initiative.

Lady Captain thanks sponsors and supporters

Lady Captain Kous Louanges Mang expressed appreciation to the club’s leadership, organising committee, volunteers, participating golfers and other supporters for their contributions to the success of the event.

She emphasised that the Pink Cup was a collective effort involving the entire club and its partners, rather than an initiative limited to the Ladies Section.

The annual tournament combines sport, fundraising and public health advocacy to support healthcare institutions and people affected by breast cancer.

The GH¢96,960.44 raised through the 2026 edition will go towards procuring breast cancer equipment for Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, reinforcing the initiative’s focus on supporting cancer care through corporate partnerships and community participation.
